I was able to get out for a couple hours yesterday. It was perfect digging weather and I wanted to investigate an area on one of my old permissions where I had started to find a few older items. I had previously found an 1801 Draped Bust LC and three large tombac buttons, plus a couple other buttons and a thimble in this area and I wanted to give the area a more thorough investigation. I was able to find 7 more buttons circa 1790 — 1835, a nice bronze drawer pull, some spoon pieces and a shoe buckle frag along with a few other odds and ends. I couldn’t get over a coin, but it’s always fun to dig buttons.

Nice collection of buttons. There must have been a lot of activity there a couple hundred years ago. Congrats on the recoveries!

Maybe no coins, but you sure picked up a nice batch of buttons.

Thanks. It's the first one I have found and they are apparently pretty old. I would only estimate the site to date to the 1790s at the earliest, so this must have came off a much older piece of furniture.

Thanks Dave. I may have located an early out building or maybe the original cabin site on this farm. There is still an old house standing, but mostly mid to late 19th century stuff around it.
