I attempted my first real bottle digging in the yard today, I don't think I broke anything I dug, maybe nicked one of the Atlas jars :-\, ended up with a full 5 gallon bucket of broken stuff though, and about 10 other plain jars/glasses that I didn't post..here's the pics..If anyone can estimate a date on something it would be appreciated, I'm still trying to get an idea of the age of the dump. I only dug about a foot down, and there's definitely more below this. Cleaning them is gonna be a whole other story. Thanks for looking...

Thanks for the link gypsyheart, the little jug says PHROSTO...and the pic of the one by itself says CLYCO-THYMOLINE, 3 FUILD OZS....nothing on the other bottles..

Look for Speas U-save-it jars. they look similiar to food jars and are only marked on the bottom. Some of these jars bring good money.

I would say dump date from about 1910 to 1930 . You may still find some good stuff in it. May be some good late throws. DHG

Those crown top bottles look like 1930s - 1960s Keep on digging as the older bottles may be deeper..........................

Regards Simon...

Thanks for all the replies..Being new to this whole bottle/glass thing is making me nuts. At least with coins everything is pretty cut and dry...but all the different types of bottles, jars, etc. makes my head hurt. :) It's frustrating not being able to go to one book and find what you dug up. I'm trying to learn all I can and appreciate you all taking the time to reply to my posts...even if what I find is nothing special....
