Got out and detected in NC and dug up a SNAKE, that's a first, here is the video:

Along with the snake dig, a GREAT day of discovery digging flat buttons with backmarks, 2 colonial 2 tine forks, and an excellent representative piece to a cast iron cooking pot. Also 2 decorative artifacts, one is scallop shaped and bent, the other seems to be a buckle frame? or colonial ladies hair beret? It has ALOT of GOLD gilt on it. I sketched it out for reference, if anyone can chime in for definite identification, that would be great. All of the flat buttons had backmarks, except one larger flat button. NOTE: The spelling of COLOUR versus Color, indicating these buttons were of British import, specifically LONDON. Here is the list of buttons and backmarks found:

EXTRA FINE, Eagle on Top, evidence of Silver Gilt

STANDARD RICH COLOUR, Eagle on back side with shank, and shield with sea anchor

GILT, with 6 sided stars and arrows surrounding the shank

BEST QUALITY LONDON, with evidence of Silver Gilt

GOLD COLOUR, Flower Cuff Button

A great button collection you have unearthed there.

Great iron finds! I'm glad you took the time and cleaned them up so nice. They'll look great in a display. Great buttons too!

Neat finds but the green grass snake is my favorite.... find one now and then up my way. Hope you reburied the old boy it was hibernating. They are a rather uncommon species.
