Hey folks, I dug up this big rock in Maine and I've carried it all around the country.
It has little crystal like structures on the outside. Please help identify it. Thank you so much. 20190727_180537.webp20190727_180548.webp20190727_180553.webp20190727_180606.webp20190727_180609.webp

I had to look at it a few times. Wrong structure for beryl or tourmaline. Maybe staurolite.

I have NO idea what it is! I'm actually a little more curious as to why you "carried it all around the country"?

Why don't you scrub the mud off of it, so we can see it?

It looks like crystalization in a matrix.

Welcome to Tnet from Toronto Calvin. :hello:
You might want to consider re-posting your thread in either of these two forums... Rocks/Gems or Fossils

If I'd found a stone like that, I'd be reluctant to give it up too. :laughing7:

Thanks for looking folks. It's much heavier than the granite rocks I had up north. I'll try to upload some new photos after i scrubbed it but it didnt change much. It's a dark gray. I carried it all around because it's my retirement plan. Lol.

Almost looks like a lump of concrete that solidified in the bag when it was half full and dumped out. ? Paul :coffee2:

It's way to heavy and hard to be concrete. I tried to break off a piece with a sledge hammer and didnt scratch it. Thanks

To me it looks like it could be a large coprolite from a herbivore of some sort, if it is hard as you say it could be dinosaur...

"Retirement plan", that's what I tell my wife. Now I understand and that makes perfect sense to me. Great job and carry on!

I'm wondering if it isn't a large chunk of silver ore? Is it magnetic?

Carry on lol hope you have a diversified portfolio. Just curious what do you think it is and why do you think its valuable thats a big nest egg I would lay a few more in case that one is a dud. I gotta say it is pretty cool looking seems like you could get it looked atby a geologist during all your travels
