33ft long and 3ft wide! That's one huge tree! And to imagaine that they chopped this tree down with a sharpened rock!

Amazing that it was intact. The old growth trees were huge. There's a few places where they have been preserved.

There have been quite a few intact canoes found in the lakes (Carolina bay lakes) in eastern NC. The water is very acid, the canoes became buried in sediment and were/are preserved. Amazing when they are discovered and it is a very real connection to these people and their way of life. Thanks for posting.

A lot of canoes have been found here in Fl. too, but not that big!

Must of used that one on the river sure couldnt use it in a creek.
