Doubt its harmed in any way. Lucky some one didn't sit on it.

No harm that I am aware of, no different than if you were using for that extended amount of time.

Thanks for the comments. Thus far, not aware of any problem(s), but since I'm electronically ignorant and the coil was facing car's metal door, I was concerned the "Null / Overload" circuitery might have been harmed or burn out.

Not sure about the eTrac specifically, but I have read in a couple of different Minelab manuals that OVERLOAD does no harm to the machine.

There's one way to find out! :laughing7:

Were you at home detecting the yard, then put The Mighty ETrac in vehicle?
Cause if you drive w ETrac on it will let you know it's on.

Peace ✌

Unit was in backseat with headphones plugged in, so not sure 'how' it would have audiably 'let me know'???? At any rate, I've run it twice since then without noticable problem. Last hunt produced a 1989 1,000 peso Mexican coin. Thought it was a 'Walker' until I rubbed some dirt off of it, then I thought it was Mexican gold...unfortunately, it is brass and following devaluation, it is worth 1 peso. It is a good looking coin after cleaning and quite heavy. Sadly, it's not worth anything. :BangHead:

Maybe he was unaware you had the headphones plugged in still????
