The aim on this field is always to get 1 new capbadge (I include shoulder badges in this bracket) & 1 new button. As I have so many of both it is increasingly difficult to achieve. However did manage 1 new capbadge, 1 new shoulder badge & 2 new buttons ;D

We split loyalties today, I continued on the Dump Field & Dad went in the field next door to continue the filled in pipeline trench. He didn't get much other than common buttons, however he did sneak out the best find of a silver fish brooch (pin) - Made in Chester in 1896. Never had a Chester hallmark before :)

The dump field is hard work with every swing I get 3 iron or rubbish signals. So plenty of clearing needs to be done. Worth the effort I think.

UPDATED

Just cleaned what I thought was a English Penny - Turned out its a French Cent 1855 ;D Not unusual for this field as the soldiers brought them back after WWI. This dump has many WWI related items.

It is amazing what you find! Could that be a seal matrix? HH, Mike

Mike, I used to think they were pipe tampers because they had a plain base. However it turns out they are 17th century flat topped spoon handles.

I still get amazed at your "Rubbish" over there!

I joke really, as its not rubbish to me, however it was to the people in 1918-22ish when they were burnt on the fields.

I now have a stunning collection of most of the WWI regiments, plus many of their buttons. Might not be old by my usual standards but still interesting & worth the effort. :)
