A google search led me to this site ..... http://sdhistory.org when you get there click on museum then click on galleries then click on oyate tawich'an see stop #12 Dentalia Cape Case which reads ..... "Owning many dentalia shells was a sign of wealth. Ellen Thunder Horse made this cape in 1890. Her name is visible on the dime size medallions decorating the piece."
