Was wondering how the E-Trac does with gold rings. I've heard it's primarily a coin/relic detector, but it has a preset beach programm. Has anyone with the ET scanned any small to medium gold/silver items? how did it fare? What kind of depth could be expected on these types of targets in heavy/medium/low soil mineralization? any feed back is much appreciated as i am seriously considering the E-trac. Regards, Dean

Dean I have a Etrack and like it a lot. I have not got to beach hunt with it but on gold it does well on air test. Have not had much time to hunt with mine but hope to hunt most of the day tommorrow in a heavy hunted area to see how it does. Will try to keep every one updated to my progress and thoughts on this new detector.

I've been watching the E-Trac comments on another forum and so far it's back and forth and I'm not really sure at this point what the E-Trac is best for (if anything).

Minelab claims it's a whole new machine but I find it difficult to believe it's better than the Explorers for finding rings. My XS can easily nail a man's wedding band at 11 inches deep (buried).

We'll have to wait and see what happens.

I have both and E-TRAC and an SE but I would not use either of them if I were hunting for gold, small or large. I'd use a SovereignGT... it is good on small gold and all gold for that matter.
I have the new Whites TDI on my radar too, have you seen the videos on it? It was developed as a nugget hunter and they discovered right before it's release that is ignores iron and hits on deep ferrous.
I have never used one but I think a Fisher CZ3D might also be a good choice... it is also on my radar... I want one!

I just found a gold ring on my first day out with the E-Trac. Does it work on gold rings? Yep and it does it very well. The gold ring I found was at 5 inches. It read at 14-47 and it hit hard. The Hotwheel car was over 12 inches. The silver was found at 4 inches to 13 inches deep. All found with the factory coin program. I have owned many top of the line detectors in the last 24 years. I have owned White's, Fishers, Tesoro's & Garrett. I had owned an Explorer SE and the E-Trac in my opinion, is the best detector out right now. That is just my opinion for my type of hunting. Everyone has their opinion on what is best for them. The debate goes on. Ford VS Chevy comes to mind.
