Been hunting a small iron infested area on and off all summer and it still is producing.

So far it gave up 20 Buffs and V nickels along with about 40+ wheaties, 5 indians and about 15 mercs and rosies, along with a ton of nails, wire etc.

There is so much iron crap that In auto sens mode the Etrac will go as low as 7-8 in some areas.
I hope that as I remove the iron, the good finds will increase.

Here are old nickels #19 and #20, a 1900 and 1912-D, which is kind of a rare date/mint mark.

The ring is marked sterling with a >U< makers mark. That mark is for Uncas Mfg co. in Rhode Island. It was used from the 1920's into the 80's.

The ring style looks like it could be more on the older side to me.

Hey where you at in WI Toothpick? Great hunting! Love the old old old nickels! That X-5 is some kind of coil isn't it? I don't use mine too often anymore but when I do,it is downright SURGICAL!

I bought the x5 for my etrac about a month ago for just that purpose. If I have half the luck you did I will be happy. Do you run TTF with the screen wide open or do you use some discrim? Congrats!

Thanks
I run this screen and dig/scoop most everything in this particular trashy area.

Oh yeah, there is zero aluminum there....99% wire, nails, screws etc

Quite a few guys in that area that hunt...I just hit an old 4-H site over by Whitewater where my folks live and came away with some good ones on Sunday...

Do you still pick up nails and iron wire pretty badly with that setting

I will still pick up some nails etc. Especially when I am "begging"....like digging really iffy targets because there hasn't been any good signals for a while.

I'm gonna have to try to figure that setting out. See if I can load that one
