E-Trac

Better than an X-terra 70......LOL!! All joking aside, it tends to work pretty well, but you will have to move slowly if you are using the stock pro coil. Pinpointing can be a pain in the butt in really trashy sites, just make sure to turn 90 degrees to good sounding targets to try and lock onto them. The key is to move reallllllly slow.....If the trash is still too much to handle then go with a smaller coil. Just my two crusty zincolns.....

There's no substitute for a small coil on ANY detector in trashy areas.---On the Etrac in the trash--the Sunray X-5 works very well--as does the Excellerator 6". -----Del

Depends on the site and the person. All a small coil does for me is covers less ground, gets less depth, and singals on less good targets. I've probably had 6 or 7 small Minelab coils over the years and have sold them all. I believe most people that really like small coils are the ones who need a really clean sounding signal to consider it a good signal. In other words they don't know the detector as well, and are not as good at working out targets in tough areas so they need the detector to make it easier, because they do not get better.

How does a E-trac preform in trashy areas?

Have never used an E-trac but with an Explorer have shown several other brand detectors masked targets that they could not hear, or would not dig. (and have never been on the other end) So that to me says the top Minelabs are pretty good in trash. Of course you can't take it out of the box and expect miracles. :-X Learning a new detector to know it very well takes a long time.

I agree 100%. I hate small coils takes forever to cover any ground. I do just fine with my stock coil on my etrac in trashy areas. You need to learn your machine and you'll be just fine

I agree with Iron Patch, just learn what the machine is telling you and you will be fine. Anyone want to buy a 6"xterra coil?

I exclusivly use the E-trac and it is great in trashy areas. However, there have been one or two sites I have been on where you need a smaller coil. So much trash that it actually masks the good signals, especially true of iron. Now, the small coil I use is the Sunray X-8, which is actually bigger than 8 inches but it is a DD coil and the depth is great. In our test garden, it can pick up a clad quarter at 8 inches no sweat, and that is in a modified Iron Mask mode.

Once you clean up an area with the smaller coil, than you can go back with the stock 11 inch coil and go over the ground again to pick up any deeper items that you might have missed. This will be easier since you have taken targets out of the ground that could have been getting in the way. I hope this helped.

If you want to know anymore, let me know.

My oldest coin finds came from trashy areas in local parks that have been pounded for more years than I am old. Re-hit an old farm house that made another detector go batty, and plucked several wheats from within all the trash. The amount of trash brought home went down drastically after getting the hang of the etrac.

hi ;D

the E-Track is a very good detector on all kind of grounds. (I say It is the best you can buy now)
It performs at his best with the Original coil

when the settings are right , you wil detect the good finds between Iron trash

greatings Bubbas
