What's up guys. Well, here's the sum of the tally of Eagle buttons that I dug from the site we've been diggin all the awesome stuff at. There were more Eagle

"A's" at that site than I've ever seen in one small area before since I've been digging. EVERY SINGLE EAGLE BUTTON that I dug was an Eagle "A" and most were early ones

at that (1830's-1840's). After we had pounded it for nearly two weeks, we showed up two days ago and I dug 8 more on that single hunt. Was hoping for one more

AWESOME find to go with these but I think Jeff and I have cleaned them all out :-\

Also managed some other nice finds:

All Eagle "A"s (Some are 2-Piece and some 1-Piece)

boring, more buttons  :D

I wish I had your Consistency of success right now, but we are in our toughest month :P

Re: Eagle "A"s, Eagle "A"s , Eagle "A"s

I think when we get on some of the adjacent property, more good stuff will show up :icon_thumleft: Heck, the one small piece of adjacent property turned up 2 Eagle A's and what, 6 flat buttons?, an old ring, etc.. Just a matter of continuing to get the permission

Before I detecting, I definately would have not taken any interest in buttons, almost a little girly type past time, imagine the conversation: 'what do you do?' 'oh I collect buttons' :laughing7:

However, you will have seen me quote many times, I only need 1 new type of button & I'm a happy hunter. Strange how we develop interests that may have been alien to us years ago...

I wouldn't worry about what you didn't find, I never do, dream about the rarist & keep chasing it. Thats what you are good at, & like I have improved year on year, I can spot it in your team :icon_thumright:

Yes, we did quite well in that adjacent property! And we did a BANG UP job on the main site and had a really fun time doing it! :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: Tomorrow we'll be back after it, on the hunt again...and I'm quite sure as you said, it will show up! :icon_thumleft:

I'm sure I'll probably catch some heat for this, but I used to throw away flat buttons, typically anything that wasn't a coin :laughing9: :laughing9:

Yes we live and learn, I'd say my BIGGEST mistake when I started was not digging anything below 60 (zinc penny, small silver range)... God knows 60-70% of the great finds hit lower on the meter :-\ :'(

You have just highlighted the big difference from those that start detecting & discriminate/cherry pick, either with the meter (which by the way I never looked at) or with the ears - you will get results but your have not clue as too the goodies you left. In my opinion, a good site, simply needs the hard work & effort of clearing everything that beeps, even when your sure its trash, because 1 in 20 is that magical find that others ignore, that might be on its edge & sound a little iffy etc..
We went back to a Roman Site we have done for 10 years & I'm telling you its difficult to find a small iron nail - anyone hunting it now will have no idea of the site we mapped.
