What's up guys. Well, here's the sum of the tally of Eagle buttons that I dug from the site we've been diggin all the awesome stuff at. There were more Eagle

"A's" at that site than I've ever seen in one small area before since I've been digging. EVERY SINGLE EAGLE BUTTON that I dug was an Eagle "A" and most were early ones

at that (1830's-1840's). After we had pounded it for nearly two weeks, we showed up two days ago and I dug 8 more on that single hunt. Was hoping for one more

AWESOME find to go with these but I think Jeff and I have cleaned them all out :-\

Also managed some other nice finds:

All Eagle "A"s (Some are 2-Piece and some 1-Piece)

Re: Eagle "A"s!, Eagle "A"s! , Eagle "A"s!

Man, Josh, you guys are leaving everyone speechless. I can't believe how much you guys are digging at your sites. No one else, that I know of right now, can even come close to competing. Unbelievable! :hello2:

I want just one military button this year! It is PA, so I ain't holding my breath for too long. :laughing9:

Re: Eagle "A"s!, Eagle "A"s! , Eagle "A"s!

great CW finds!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MR TUFF

Re: Eagle "A"s!, Eagle "A"s! , Eagle "A"s!

Josh, you guys are making me sick-LOL!!! That's incredible. That must have been the site of a big artillery battery??? Hunt that site until you come home empty handed. NEWS BULLETIN: With the soil as dry as it is this time of year, you'll recover even more buttons this Fall and Winter on that site. HH Gentlemen, Quindy.

Re: Eagle "A"s!, Eagle "A"s! , Eagle "A"s!

Very cool button finds. Congrats, keep it up!

Re: Eagle "A"s!, Eagle "A"s! , Eagle "A"s!

Josh,

That is one INCREDIBLE grouping of Artillery buttons!!!!

Your post has me drooling all over the keyboard. I have seen good A's posted, but I have never--and I mean NEVER seen so many come up from one site. The time span of those buttons is incredible. That site had to have been occupied for close to half a century!

I am sure I will be getting a phone call tomorrow when one of you two digs yet another jaw-dropping find...or at least, I'd Better get a phone call! I want to hear all about it!

Congratulations, my friend.

Cheers,

Buck

Hi Sentinel,
Really nice buttons.
I was looking at that ring.
The ruby appears to be costume glass (based on the cut).
If you look at costume cut rings with fake stones in them of this age you will notice that the table (the flat top) is usually smaller than the rest of the stone. On real stones it's usually opposite, the table is larger and points to a point at the bottom of the stone.
Still, all in all, this is a killer post! Keep goin back to that spot!

Re: Eagle "A"s!, Eagle "A"s! , Eagle "A"s!

Nice! Seems like you would have to think there might be some artillery shells or cannonballs around that area somewhere or at least a friction primer or two. What a haul.

:D :D :D :D Quin, this site was close to the Artillery Training school that was here from the Early 1800s on thr. the Civil War and that's why I found so many on this site. Oh yeah, I'm going to be hitting it again when we get a nice, hard rain for a couple days because we've REALLY REALLY worked the whole area VERY HARD already and gotten all the good signals that that dried up, desert-like dirt will give up. HH :icon_thumleft: :icon_thumleft:

Thanks Coinshooter for that info. It's marked "Sterling" and has a makersmark so figured if they were going to take the time to use real silver that the stone might be real as well....Oh well, guess they were trying to save a buck anyway they could back then also :laughing9: :icon_thumleft:
