Found this tonight at a site that had occupation from early 1800’s -1950. Anyone know if this is a military or civilian? If military date range? Thx!!

This appears to be one of the two stud devices that secures the chin strap to a USMC Service Frame Cap. Not sure of the time frame of use though.
