Eagle button - Need a date range

Eagle Achor button - NA62? Need a date range

Found this one piece coat button at a late 1700's house. You can just see an anchor on the shield. It appears to have had gold gilt once-upon-a-time. Nothing visible on the back.

I can find a few similar on the Net but not a lot of info. Can someone tell me what this button is and when it was worn?

I don't have all the resources that some here do so this info may get corrected. But it looks like your button is in Alberts book on page 23, no. GL38A. That would make the date between 1815-1821. One reason I am not 100% sure is because yours looks like it has stars on the top and the one I referenced does not seem to have the stars. Very nice find by the way.

I just noticed page 32 has some with the stars and the eagle head in the correct position. I am starting to think this may be a better match. I think the date range would be about the same.

If it has an anchor it is most likely Navy. Probably in the 1820s range.
