Here is one I found at
http://www.civilwarbuttons.com/uscentrlist.htm

Low convex Riflemen's button. Found Charleston, SC. Probably adorned the uniform of a South Carolina militiaman. Sweet, smooth, even, dark patina…the shield, behind the letter "R," is lined, not blank!

Thanks mizzz Gypsy.I noticed that the one my buddy found is a bit different than the ones I've been seeing on the web.The eagle is facing the opposite direction and the arrows and olive branches are on the opposite sides also.I'm going to see this button today for myself and if my bud is realy nice he might even bring me to the site were he found it.....for further investigation. ;D

Re: Eagle button with a "K" ?

If it is EXTRA RICH, then it is anywhere from Pre CW to CW, and just might as well then consider it such, I believe the R buttons did not start until around 1846. But I'm fairly certain the button is not post CW, but not 100% sure.
