Eagle Insignia - how old and what's it for?
I just arrived in Michigan yesterday after a 4.5 hour flight from the west coast. Visiting my in-laws with my family for two weeks, and on a major quest to find my first large cent.
My in-laws live on farmhouse land that dates back to mid 1800's. I've hammered this property every time I visit, several times each year, for the past 11 or 12 years, but it always gives up one or two more interesting finds.
I couldn't resist the urge to get out and swing the detector, so last evening I hit the front yard for about an hour, and picked up two wheaties - 1940 and 1941, and this eagle insignia.
Can anyone tell me what this is, and how old it is? the top part is folded over, and I am too afraid to try bending it back as I know it will snap off. The folded over part is a circle with a border of some sort, and has 13 stars in it.
Here are the pics...
Thanks,
Jim
