Greetings, a few finds today,
Size 0 Eagle Hinged Burner, any one know what the 'am bur' on the handle means?
Ornate net fid, & a whatsit.
harmonica board, Fragment of copper ship spike,
brass buckle, odd doublehead copper nail
3 toasted buttons, 3rd one SILVER!! according to a 'mustard test'
A piece of what may have been a butterfly pendant.
Question: I know pure gold is not affected by Seawater, are the large amounts of alloy in Karat gold leached out over the years? The 'Old Gold Ring' I posted a while back has rough texture similar to this filigree.
Good Day & HH, Herbie.

Nice finds there steelheadwill! :icon_thumright:

I'm very interested in the oil lamp burner as well. I've collected oil lamps for the past 25 years and am not familiar with the 'am bur' on the thumb wheel. :icon_scratch:
If you don't mind, I'll copy your photo of the thumb wheel and I'll send it to a good friend of mine who will be able to ID it for you. If you wouldn't mind measuring the outside diameter of the burner for me, it looks like 2 1/2", but I need to be sure.

I'll post a copy of his response here on your post.

I've sent a copy to my friend to let him know that you ID the burner for us.

Do you also know that Cranston R.I. is known as the costume jewelry capital of the world (used to be anyway) and they made a few of the buttons you all find? I was told that once.

Thanks very much for sharing that Bev, but I usually only wear costume jewellery with my wife's dresses in the privacy of our home! :laughing9: :laughing9:

Hey, I thought this was an open forum, where we're all encouraged to share our thoughts and feelings? :'( OK, maybe that's just me! :laughing9:

Re: Eagle Lamp Burner, Old Gold Filigree Pendant, Buttons

Double Headed Copper Nail is probably a rivet through wood and was hammered on each end to hold something together (to wood handle). Most older garden implements where made mainly of wood.

Thanks for everyones Help!
Great work on the research Bev!
The outside dia of that burner is spot on 3",
the globe that goes on top would need a 2-3/4" inside dia.
The others i have all end in 1/2",
Good Day & Great digs!
