Beautiful finds CD! What's the history of the eagle over cannon button?

Ive never studied up on the history behind the design....

I think your eagle on cannon button may be war of 1812. No expert by any means, but it looks great. Hope I find one sometime in the future. My best military buttons are a couple of civil war and they are in pretty bad shape.

Great finds.

thanks everyone!

“What could it be folks, what could it be”? I love those buttons calabash. congratulations

looks like your doing well my friend!

Nice finds. Your Artillery button is from the Artillery Corps 1814-1821. It looks like AY 55B in albert's button book. Does it have a backmark? Maybe "Crumpton Phil"?

That was a fun hunt even though I got blistered! The patina and strike on the buttons is sweet and you just dont see this quality every day. Lets get back to it and save some mo buttons!

I found a similar button at a fur trade camp that dated 1802-1806 if I remember correctly. The one you found is in much better shape.

Very nice buttons. Congrats!
