MVC-768F.webpMVC-766F.webpMVC-767F.webpThis item is brass and was a water find. It has a threaded hole in the back. It has screw part on the front which is broken at the top. What is it? My digging buddy found one like it and it was broken in the same way. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks for looking! DD.

I can only find proof of these on banjos but is possible longer ones were use on drums. Some of the same makers were making drums and banjos.
There were also folded wing eagles that read "union forever" and small union shields.
As far as age I have seen them in a 1897 catalog That is the earliest I can say for sure. Yours may be later, as the older ones Ive seen have different style hook and a square nut. But maybe yours was square and broke off.
