Today I went out for a short one hour hunt at a field close to me. I wasn't expecting to find much but my expectations were very low compared to the find! So my great find from the hunt is a Swedish ⅙ Öre coin from 1707! The coin is not in good condition but I could manage to find out the exact year of the coin. By looking at it with a magnifier I also concluded that the year is 1708 marked over 1707. Why they marked a year over another year on the coin is because when some of the 1707 coins for some reason got out of circulation they just minted the year 1708 on top of the year 1707 to save the copper and avoid to making the minting process all over again. Last year my oldest coin was a 1 Öre from 1748, and in the summer I found a rare 2 Öre silver coin from 1570. So this is my second oldest coin and the type of the coin was quite high on my bucket list. Here are some photos:

And here is the coin besides an undug example:

Thank you for reading and happy hunting!

Well I was really lucky on this one. It was a fat coin but I looked at it through a loop with a really strong flashlight from the side about half an hour and could determine the year of the coin, the were one of the few very faint details that were left.
