I just asked this question on my 'What is it?' post, and immediately saw this thread. Sorry!
I have a button that has been identified as "a Diplomat button, though in these early years, they may also have been worn by military officer's. It is a rare find. The button dates to the 1790's-18 ought period and can be seen cataloged as OD2B in Alphaeus Albert's, Record of American Uniform and Historical Buttons. " (Email from www.civilwarbuttons.com owner)
It was found in downtown Charleston. How much do you think it would be worth?
Thanks for any help!
