Found this today at a local thrift store for $4. Was wondering if any one knew the age of it or what it was used for. Personally I think it's early 1800's but I'm no expert. If anyone knows anything about it, it would be a major help. Also if anyone would have a rough estimate of value that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Looks like a Chinese rice bucket to me. I found them on ebay going for anywhere between $40 and $100 similar to yours. I would also like to say I love your table. lol

Vary cool. The metal work seems to tell it was used for some rough type of collecting.
I have never seen wood joinery like that. The joinery might be your best tip on origin.
From here the wood joints look like box joints but really thin.

Thank you for the info. You hit the nail on the head. Also my dad made the table and appreciates your complement. He builds primitive furniture and sells the pieces in an antique store.

Yep, like the the saw marks on the table and the well chosen wood. The attachments and joinery on the basket are killer.

Yeah. The wood was from our neighbors sawmill. He has had the sawmill for along time and he is really old. Also all of his cuts are made with a huge saw blade.
