it's a huge round ball? Cannonballguy is the local T-net expert on these items. He usually has his radar on for finding such post. Hopefully he will be along shortly to add some details about your interesting and large find. Makes a nice door stopper.:hello:

Yup pretty large round ball..found around 1 foot deep in ground. Did not find any markings, openings or casting lines I could see. Thanks!:icon_thumleft:

I was fortunate enough to recover a 4" 12 pound cannon ball. Cannonballguy confirmed it's authenticity right here on T-net. He's a great guy and true asset for relic identification especially concerning cannonballs. Whatever your find is it's a truly remarkable and well deserved recovery! 12 inches and this huge target is a workout! Well done and welcome to the best sight on the web for all things treasure hunting. More knowledge and experience here than contained in all the worlds libraries!:icon_study::laughing7:

I am really hoping for you that it is a cannonball!!

Don't think that's a ball bearing from Fred Flintstone's vehicle!!!

Get an accurate diameter measurement. Wrap a string around it and then measure the string length closely. Diameter= 3.14 divided by the string length.

Got it! 4.84 diamater

I forgot to mention I live 1 mile or less from the George Taylor house..he was a blacksmith who made cannonball for the rev. War . He was promoted to colonel in 3rd battalion militia in 1775, he also signed the decleration of independence. Would he pretty cool if this is connected somehow.
