*Easy Quiz* Various Types & Materials in the US

Here's a few various types & materials from my collection I would like to share. The states they were found in: FL, WI, CA, TX, & MO (each grouped together). There's very distinct ways to determine which ones were found where. I want you all to decide, which should be simple for some. Atleast, give an imaginative attempt. You don't have to, but you can also tell me what, lithic materials you see in each frame. If any one has questions or any information to share, just tell me. I'm tryin to maybe learn something new myself and maybe teach someone else who views this too. I'll say what order they are in later. I look forward to seeing your intelligent ideas, thanks! 8-)

HINT: The 1st pic has 2 states.

The first picture has CA at the top and FL at the the bottom. 2nd pic is Texas, 3rd is MO, and the last is WI.

First frame has Cali, and Wisconsin..frame next to it is Florida, frame under it number 3 is Texas and last frame is Missouri.....

Most of ya are right, CA is the first. The most obvious lithic material pictured is obsidian and that material is more abundant the more west ya go. Gtp has gotten 3 out of 5 right so far.

Maybe I should not have replied so soon. I am looking at these in the sunlight with my phone when I replied. The way they look posted for me is the Cali frame first then there is one right next to it. Not sure how the layout is on the computer. I'll check when I get home and can see them better. The dead giveaway for Cali was yes obsidian bit it was also that fine elko corner notch. The material is hard to see on my phone. Under it is the Texas frame with the uvalde to the right and the Kinney in center. The frame to the right of the first one looks to be from Florida. The caliche bolen was the giveaway on that one. I feel Wisconsin triangles are in Cali frame. Again it is hard to see material so that is under review. The last frame appear to have a rice point and a Dalton and would put it in Missouri area. Again it is hard to see with my phone. I'll be home in shortly and will look at these again........

Yea. The TX points are below CA. Then FL with the Bolen Bevels was a sure giveaway. Third, WI with the hornstone materials and archaic knife. Last, MO with the pitkin chert Rice Side Notch, the Rice Shallow Side Notch and the Searcy. Can you give me a reason why you think that one is a Kinney? To tell ya the truth, I didn't know the type of that one or the material. All I know it was found in Camp Co., TX. I really appreciate your help.

Those triangles are from Texas??. Alright i'm talking about the frame with the Adena Waubesa in it and what looks like a Uvalde from Texas to the right of that frame. The center piece looks like possibly Heavily patinated Edwards Plateau flint knife similiar to a Kinney blade but seeing it closer it appears to be a knife. Material on the Adena looks like Hornstone. The last frame with the one rice point in that frame but the novaculite point looks like a Dalton. Are you sure frame 3 is from Wisconsin....it looks like point types from Texas?? Plus the triangle blades in the Cali frame do not look like material out of Texas. They look like pieces found in the central region to the east coast. Again better pictures of them will tell the story....

I'm sorry about the quality of the pics. I was figuring if someone knew atleast 4 of the 5, then you could use process of elimination to find out the last one. Them triangles are from TX; the two at the bottom are early triangle types. The one in the center is suppose to have barbs with that type I think and it's a red, semi-translucent flint. I see which one you say is the Uvalde. That frame is from Juneau Co., WI, having the adena waubesa, archaic knife & adena hornstone. Then the one you say is like a Dalton, I have typed as a Rice Shallow Side Notch. You gave some good reasoning, even though the pictures didn't show the best details.

This was a fun post and tests the knowledge of people. I want more!!!!......lol.....
