That's a tuff question. You're really comparing two different types of machines.

Personally, the old vintage Tesoro were very good and some I think had strong points Tesoro should have kept in their newer models.

But as a rule I think the newer machines are deeper and overall, better. The Cibola doesn't have manual ground balance but in my comparing the older Tesoro models with it against those newer models with factory preset GB I've seen the factory presets do better.

I recently compared an old Cutlass II uMax with factory preset GB against a Tesoro Bandido with manual GB and the uMax did better on dimes buried at 6 inches deep in my test garden. Both detected the dimes but the Cutlass (the Cutlass is the same as Silver uMax) got a louder signal.

I've not used the Cibola yet but from what I've heard it's deep and fast. The old Tesoro vintage machines like the Eldorado or original Bandido are also deep and have some special discriminational features that take time to learn. But I'd almost bet the Cibola is a little deeper and I know it would be a whole lot easier to learn.

A good Eldorado will cost you as much as a new Cibola. I'd look for a deal on a used Cibola. They are out there but you have to post on the forums. On ebay used Cibolas go for almost new price which is rediculous. I passed one up a couple months back for $200.

Personally I favor newer models over the old clunkers.

I have a Cibola and have previously owned both the CutlassII umax and the Silver umax. I can tell you that the Cibola will blow them both away. It is MUCH more powerful!

If depth is your main concern I'd look for a mint used Tejon. It is Tesoro's deepest machine and even Tesoro will tell you that.

I've owned two Tejons and the depth is shocking. A good Tejon can hit fresh buried dimes hard at 8 inches. It does even better on copper and gold.

Yes, the Bandido II is a very good machine. In fact I just sold mine.

In depth it's about the same as the original Bandido.

If you can borrow or get somebody to compare their Tejon to the Bandido II you'll be surprised at how much deeper the Tejon is.

As for the Cibola I can't say but I know it's not as deep as the Tejon.

Myself, yes! In fact I wish I had known about that deal. I sold my Bandido II uMax for $230 shipped and it was mint.

Only I'd try for an even up trade. Maybe your machine and $50.

Try the Tejon first to make sure it's a good one.

I HAVE A COBOLA AND IT A GOOD DETECTOR
I LIKE THE DEPTH IT HAS :headbang: :headbang:

I love my b2 micromax too, to me it has the features of three machines combined, all metal, with a flip of a switch to disc kind of a dual thing like the tejon, can use all metal to pinpoint without retuning like the cibola, and has just abt the same features as the Eldo. Ok, back to the question, I've had the cibola and its an awesome machine, I've dug wheaties at 8", no fish tale, and you have good ground, you're good to go, since you already have a bandido, i'd go for the cibola, jmho, Jhar.

In good soil, the cibola will go deep . I pulled a coin at about 10 inches yesterday. I thought it had to be large metal in the ground as I got deeper and deeper. I also pulled a dime size aluminium coin at about 7 inches . I was impressed.
