To get full dollar I need to remove the electric element from the base of the pan.
How do I do this apart from cutting around the whole base.
 
If you're meaning this element on the bottom I'd say a metal chisel and it should snap off pretty easy from what I remember.

I haven't done those in awhile. But when I did I would use an air chisel. It usually popped it out within a few seconds.

Right on maxpower! You hit the nail right on the head! Nickle it is or a nickle alloy with high nickle content
