Not part of a battery terminal connector with fibers of wire of spacer?
Could be something to do with exhaust, smog control, asbestos...

looks like a ground block to me.

I've seen a similar type clamp connector for electrical cables, but, not one that mounted on something like fiberglass (or asbestos) or had that extra post. Also, with this setup, the cables would be clamped by using a screwdriver, whereas, the others I've seen had a nut you tightened to clamp the cables.

Any idea of the application? What is the short post used for?

Looks like a battery post to me. The short post and the lock nut post offer two types/means of connecting the wiring. The fiberglass may be from the battery case?

When I enlarge the picture the solid pin looks to have a slotted screw? Also can you give us a better picture showing the opening on the large piece.a straight on pic as straight on as you can.

It might be something from an electrical transformer like the kind on utility poles.Possibly one exploded from a lightning strike or an accident?

The small post is slick except for a screwdriver slot on top. I assumed that was to hold the post while you tighten the nut on the bottom. I see no way for anything to attach to it unless it has a clamp type connector. No evidence anything was ever attached to it. I'll try to get you more photos.

For some reason I’m thinking it came off a boat. Just a wag.

Google vintage navigation light from fiberglass boat.Go to brass ,then third row down with red and blue light covers and E-bay all over picture.

I still haven't seen anything like it. Post a photo if you see one. I'm thinking it probably is an electrical contact for a movable door, hatch, cover of some sort. The small post would be the contact point that would match up with it's opposite once the item was closed. That's MY wag! :laughing7:

I found a pic but it says E-bay on it and I don't think I can post it.copyright infringement.
