Electronic Gold Tester, advice?

I have the Kee gold tester. Minelab sells the exact same one but it is Minelab brand. Cost is about $300 +/- . It works awesome and I love it, but it can still be fooled by gold filled items. I just file a spot on the item I'm testing to remove any plating, because I scrap most of the gold items I get my hands on.

Thanks for the information Niffler,

Interesting. I like the idea of testing gold electrically instead of with acid tests, seems alot cleaner and safe for the long term.

I've heard kee is about the best short of dropping several grand on an x ray machine.. i am in the market for a kee myself. Of course nothing compareds to melting it down and having it assayed.. unfortunately.
