I imagine the govt will try to control bartering if/when they eliminate coinage and paper currency. People with skills will be better off. I make wine and am capable of distilling as well (but I don’t presently do any distillation). Welding, auto repair, electrical work and fresh produce can all be bartered. I’ll fix your ceiling fan for a bucket of jalapeños. I love it.

I think a large percentage of the population would be gone before widespread bartering comes into play. A prerequisite would involve first “sharing” what is yours, voluntarily or not.

Digital currency will give the government complete control over anything you want to spend money on. Next your Social score will also be factored into your life.
