often, all it takes is checking out the edge of the coin, you can so the material chenges when clad
 

Dime,Quarters 1964 and under are silver, Halves under 1970, Jefferson nickels 1942-45, You can tell by the large mint mark over the Montecello.
 

And one other that most folks do not think about is that some bicentennial quarters were also make in 40% silver for mint and proof sets. Extremely hard to find them in circulation, but they have been found.

They also make 90% silver proof sets right now! Would be nice to find a few of them wouldn't it? ;D
