Ok, i am done with this box. This was the third to last coin. Another Machine doubling?

Check out the L's and S's. They look exactly the same.

Could we get some additional pictures of this one. This does not look like standard Machine Doubling to me. There seams to be a defined shelf. But it also does not look like a typical doubling as it does not go in one direction. It reminds me of the Lagrange doubling on Indian Head Cents that is seen from Die repair/modification to extend life.

I'm beginning to think this is a double die! Normally on the strike doubling where the coin slides out of it's holder, the 2nd "image" is flat. Your specimen has more rounded edges. I'd take it to a coin store who is reputable and do not sell it to them! Otherwise a grading company will tell the tale.

Thank you for the advice. At the moment i don't know what to think about the quarter. I have hopes it might be legit but i can't find any threads anywhere on the net that can back up what i see.

Maybe someone else has seen doubling like this and will chime in.

I don't believe it's ejection impact doubling. Looking at the A in island, I believe it's die deterioration doubling. The other is caused by the coin being ejected forcibly into the die.

Are the "S's" die deterioration as well? They look different from the "A" and "L's"



Also, i just noticed this...its very subtle but take a look at the bottom of these letters in E Pluribus unum
