I found this ring and coin at a country school that was built in 1870. Both of the finds were at the same depth and about two inches apart.
Based on the wear of the coin, and its date, I suspect that they were probably both lost at the same time. Perhaps in the late 1870's.
The ring is made of "coin" silver and has the characteristics of engraved love tokens of that time period.
I'm currently doing research on the name on the ring. I was able to find an individual with the same first initial and last name but with a different middle initial. This person lived less than three miles from the school in 1874. Perhaps it was a son since the ring was most likely lost by a young kid. If further developments can be made I will post an update.
Thanks for looking!

Congratulations! That's an awesome find. I love the deep green patina those indians show. That seems to be what I would call a unique last name. I bet you're right about it being a son. It could even be a typo. Good luck on the research.

that ring is awesome

Nice score on the ring. I think it would be cool to find something that meant so much to someone like I am sure that ring did. Congrats.

Stellar finds! That ring is awesome. Congratulations!

Both nice finds, but that ring is one of a kind. I thought the same thing about characteristics of the old love tokens, it definitely has that look. Hop etc hear more about what you find out,
