Ahh yes... got to love it... Well my last posts have been very positive. Great finds, my first barber, and lots of silver. Well the last ohh.....$4000 or so in halves have been a complete skunk. Kinda a bummer. Well anyway I go out searching for halfs. get 2 boxes (both skunks) and 5 rolls from one bank that produced 11 silver!!!!!

Now the story on the 5 rolls. I go to the bank.... ask if they have any halves. I get this smart ass little punk again......(had him before and he was arguing that there was $350 in a box of halves) But anyway he said he would go check.... they are taking forever... I see him talking to a lady probably the magager. They go back into the room. I could hear an audible rip like the rip of opening a box. He comes back with 5 rolls saying thats all they had. Once again I wanted to call that hand... BULLSHIT!!! but anyway I wasnt thinking there would be much in there the way things were going. But I took them anyway and asked for a box of nickles to see what he would say. Suprisingly I got them from him with no problems.

Now its killing me.... I know there are more halves there. I also know if I got 11 silver in 5 random rolls I know there is more. They are open today but I am stuck home babysitting and my cousin was too busy to go down there for me. I think I am going to have a breakdown..........

Well I went back today with my cousin. He went in.... gave them some story about using them for poker.... He got 5 rolls. Same as I got last time and they told me that was their last. Later on I went in... asked for some halves. The lady went in the back room....came out about a minute later.... Sorry I just sold the last that we had to a guy. Now don't you think that she would remember selling the last 5 rolls she had just 15 minutes prior!? Apparently they are only giving out 5 rolls at a time and didn't want to sell me any cause I was there recently.

BTW.... these 5 rolls produced 2 franklins and 7 40%.

Guess I am going to have to send my wife back tomorrow................

I wanted to add to this post to give you all a little more comic relief. I went back to this bank this week. This time they were limiting me to 2 rolls. Well I let it all out this time. What kind of buisness are you running here!? I asked for a box of nickels. He said sure. THen when he brought it back I said. "so you would rather give me this whole box of nickles rather then a few more rolls of halfs!?" He said yes....... I then asked, "can I get 10,000 in ones or am I limited to $2 on that as well?" well ofcorse they didnt have them. (good thing cause I didnt have that kind of money on me nor did I want them) Well anyway he was trying to tell me whats up I guess you could say in a BS line. I laughed at him and told him not to lie to me I've been doing it long enough to know whats up. Not to mention the teller is some tall skinny smart ass who apparently feels pretty safe with the teller window between him and my gorilla looking mug.



Well anyway in those 2 rolls if found 6 silver.... one 90%. This is killing me because the last 10,000 in boxes have been all skunks! Ive found more in 2 rolls from this place then I found in the last 12,000..... its awful!!! the other sets of 5 rolls mentioned above were like that too.... loaded with sliver.

So anyway I talked my uncle into stopping in there next time he goes to the bank. Maybe he will have better luck. I think they will treat him a little more seriously being older. Although I can't wait to hear what they have to say to him.

Wow, thats nuts. They have halves, and wont sell them .... I dont get it.

Call someone in upper management, and explain the problem. Sounds like
blatant discrimination , or ulterior motives.

What reason did they give, when spewing their "bs story". Im curious as to the
logic behind this... crazy.


Good luck... eventually you will get them... just a shame you have to go through
so much grief to do so.

I know it is tough but I think you should try to change your style. How about asking the punk teller to order you a box so that their customers will still have some halves. When the box comes in only take about $200 worth. That way you will get the remainder from the good box.

This is the same guy a few months ago who told me I was wrong there are $350 in a box of halves not $500. I was just like uhh... ok. As long as he was giving me them I wasnt going to complain. Im usually very polite and try to be accomodating as I can for a coin roll hunter. But when they out right lie to me and aren't very good at it I get a little angry. I usually don't go to this bank beause they treat you like a leper when you go there for change in the first place, but right now this is the only place where I am finding any even though its a drive to get there. They get the same boxes.....they just must have got a really good one this past week.

My uncle went to that bank today. (they are open on sundays) he asked for $100 worth.... he got $100 worth. Last week his son went with me he asked for $100 worth they only gave him $50 and said they were out.....I knew that was a bunch of BS because I heard them rip the box open to only give me $50 worth the day before. Plus it went from we only have $50 worth to we are limiting you to $50 worth. age descrimination?? And like I said.... they are bad liars.

btw... that $100 had 1 64 and 10 40%

I wonder if I should go back there?!?..........I think I am on theire shit list. (pardon my french)

Try circumventing the teller and his supervisor and ask to speak to the Branch Manager directly. Tell the manager that you use the coins for charity (lie to them like they lie to you, only be better at it. LOL) and that the halves are a vital part of a contest for the CHILDREN. (Children and/or dogs should always be worked into a lie, if possible, for the ahhhhh effect.) If that doesn't work or you don't want to lie, try asking the teller: What will it take for you to give me more halves each time I ask for them? Sometimes you will get a serious reply to a serious and direct question. It kind of disarms people when asked a blunt question that leaves the answer entirely up to them.

Sounds like a good source for silver, I wouldn't give up but I would change my tactics. "Kill" them with kindness, if badgering them doesn't work.

My wife went today. Got me another $100 worth. Same guy....he was grilling her too. Whats your name? whats your account # blah blah blah..... I did bring some coins back there once when I was on a road trip. I think he was pissed about that. Maybe next time I should tell him I have $2000 in halfs in the truck. Give me what you got or you are counting them. I thought about talking to the manager but I already get $2000 a week from one of their other branches. They haven't been good lately either silver wise. But I agreed to only get from the one branch so I don't want to stir the pot so to speak.

Sometimes people get real paranoid when you ask them for their corporate's phone number, tell them you need to speak with them about the way this banks handles customers. The manager may get real nice then, and ask "How may we better serve you?" Nobody wants to get the corporate office involved, trust me, I worked in customer service for years. managers can get away with a lot, but if a complaint goes to her boss...hoo boy.

Do you think I should go for the if thats the way you want to be I have $2000 in the truck you can count? or the corprate number approach? Im thinking of trying the $2000 in the truck first. They don't have to take the coins if they don't want to. I'd go back to the problem teller and tell him you are trying to find an amicable way of resolving the discrepancy between what you ask for and what you get - half dollar wise. If he remains a pain in the butt, tell him you would now like to have the contact info for the head cheese. If he refuses, ask to see his immediate supervisor. And go up the corporate ladder from there, if necessary. They don't like loud voices in a bank either, so I tend to raise my voice when/if I feel I'm getting the royal screw job.
