Did the picnic table and sidewalk along rest beach for about 50 yards trying to dig every signal I could! To get the goods I guess ya gotta dig em all cuz wow best four hours I've had in a while!!! -- tiff and co 925 peace ring!-- then a silver crisafix missing stones!! Small piece of silver necklace- old money clip! Part of a shell drill was found when I dug my first 1853 half dime!! And a ring that looks like brass knuckles lol!! And a lot of fishing weights and clad !then before I left (too hot) I dug a black seated dime no visible date yet! All of these were dug today with an ace 150 !! Cannot wait to get hold of an at pro !!

Really was awesome day!! Got the bug again fer sure!! No more being lazy I'm diggin everything from now on!! Thanks !!

Awesome day at the beach. Love it when you can find the oldies mixed in with the rest. Congrats!

Some real nice finds you got today.

The dime looks good on the side shown, I'll bet there is a date for you to get, but (if it is) salt black is hard to get off, don't be in a rush, you can ALWAYS clean more, but you can't undo something bad. It will always be there waiting for you to discover.

I certainly wouldn't use electrolisys unless you like pitted coins.

Being in key west, I find that about half of the silver coins I find, get that black ,hard ,tar like coating! No rush here slow and steady wins the race!! I'll be at the beach tommorrow after I get off work that's for sure!! Lol. Ive never seen a reale come out of the ocean personally but my dime appears to look like some of the "treasure coins " pulled up from wrecks. Is this the same form of corrosion I've seen on pieces where they are sometimes stuck together in clumps as well
Ya think?

Anyone know if the aluminum foil in boiling water will Pitt or otherwise damage a coin?

Almost forgot about this puppy!! Found this monster coin in the grass by the sidewalk at the beach today as well! First one of these too!
Looks like its twin tower commemorative coin! Cool nonetheless !

You weren't lying, pretty epic day! Nicely done.

I wouldn't do that boiling water thing. The ones I've seen look porous and pitted afterward. Looks like the pic of it later looks like you can see most of the detail and doesn't look that black.

Congrats on the fantastic finds! :occasion14:

Awesome old coins... I've never dug anything old or silver when I detected in key west--and that is going back to 1972 using an old non-discriminating BFO type of a detector. But there were so many restricted areas back then too. Dig every signal--that place has some history (x2).

Great finds, congrats!

Basically all the "home remedies" aren't going to help, not tin foil, not baking soda, or tooth paste. I've tried them all. I did hear there is a chemical that is "supposed to work, and I'm going to give it a try on some common dates I got from salt, and I let you know how it goes.

Here are some of mine the first pic show some I've "worked on" with little to no results. The second pic. is of a couple more as found. I'll try to get this done in the next couple of days and report back.
