I hit one of my favorite old schools at 10:00AM. It has a sunny yard, and I was cold. The Honey Hole seemed to be cooling down, so I thought I would try someplace else. Glad I did. When I pulled the dirt out of this hole, Shiny Roosevelt was looking back at me.

16 minutes into the hunt, I had a Silver, sure hoped this wasn’t going to be it for the day.

I went by the park for a few minutes, nothing but clad. Soooo.... I headed to the Honey Hole. I want to show you pics, but I’m scared some other pirate will pirate my pirated spot, you know what I mean. The concrete is so old, like Smittyman, that the stones are wearing through.

Here is some junk. I got 7 wheaties, 2 Dominican Republic buttons, transit token & lapel pin.

When this popped out, it didn’t quit look right, a closer inspection revealed a Merc.

This one sounded perfect, however, I was still surprised when a silver quarter flipped out of the hole.

I regret to report that I didn’t get pics of this one in the dirt. I freaked out and grabbed it because I didn’t recognize it. I saw the stars around the rim. I couldn’t help but wipe it off.

O mint mark 1905 Barber half. I saw several people go over this area, and nobody hit it. It was a really good signal, about 4” deep.

Here are the 4 silver coins I found today.

This was the 8th hunt in 12 days, the Honey Hole has yielded 24 silver coins for me including 2 half dollars. Tnetters, P@tch, Mangum and Smityman have also gotten silver coins there. This is the first time in my 4 years of detecting that I have experienced something like this, and I like it. I’m quite blessed.

I could get used to my hand looking like this.

YTD silver coins: 85

Thanks for looking and good luck on your hunt!

That’s a good day right there. I always wonder who lost the money and how bad it Musta sucked to be without it. It doesn’t hurt my feelings too bad though since it sounds better in my pocket anyways! Noticed you have the 9 and the 11 inch coils. Do you prefer one over the other? Is it worth getting the 9”?

Awesome silver finds :occasion14:

Now thats what i want to see in my plug, Congrats Tom.

Congrats on your dig. All these silver finds is making hungry. I gotta get some.

Looks like a great hunt and a very nice year end silver total Tom. Congrats on a successful silver year, and that Barber Half that you pulled. Its always nice to see those staring back at you !

I’ve never found a seated coin, got capped and Spanish (from the North), but alas, no seated coins. I doubt it’ll happen here, as this place is from the 1940s. The Barber is well worn, probably lost in the 1930s or later. There were people in the area in the mid 1800s so I guess anything could happen.

Thanks K1.

Wow! That is an awesome silver day!! That 1905 O Barber half is a rather low mintage. According to my redbook... 505,000 minted. Great digs!

Yeah, 50 cents was a lot of money back them. Somebody was bummed out at that loss.

I used the 9” coil yesterday. It’s lighter and separates targets a little better. It found 4 silver coins! I started with the 11”, and love it, used it exclusively for 1.5 years. I would rather it be a 12” and a 7”, they would compliment each other better but nobody asked me.

I bought the 9” barely used (3 hours) for $240.00. It was worth it to me for that amount of money.

Best of luck to you.

You are on FIRE Tom! Way to go on all the great finds! Congrats on the BIG Barber! Don't see those come up very often. The buttons are cool, what time period are these from? They look old. Congrats again and keep it up!

A barber half.......I can almost taste it. Great hunt, Tom, and thanks for sharing.

I just wonder what the VDI # is out of the hole? I have been hitting my best spot and found 3 barbers and 2 mercury dimes
in the past 2 weeks. I am not averaging 1 per hour in fact one hunt was almost 4 hours and I finally found one. I know this is
a pounded area but I asked for some settings to increase depth in case the bigger coins are deeper. I got some awesome ideas
from this forum and tried an old playground last night and found my first barber quarter 13" down. What a pure rush! Your spot
is absolutely a dream and for all the long hard less productive hunts, well deserved I am sure! Thanks for sharing your good fortune
it is always encouraging to hear success!

Awesome sauce

You are Killing it Tom! So happy for you.

CT! That's awesome. You do that every day until the end of the year and you'll hit 100 silvers. Congrats!

Great mitt full of silver and your totals are still climbing up there so close to the year end. Well done Tom.

Those buttons are too sharp to be very old. I’d assume maybe WW2 or later. They are military 2 piece brass buttons, but not THAT good. Better than nothing, but not good like CW buttons. I found 3 and P@tch found one, in a small area.

I’m trying to keep up with YOU, in the half dollar department. Hail Dave.

That’s a silver hunt you won’t forget,
Congrats

I’ll be honest with you Tom...You need to step it up and hit 100 by this Sunday. Here’s a tip. Just ask Smittyman where he used to “hang out” with the ladies back in the 1930’s. Or detect Charlie’s lawn - he throws mercs and Roosies out his basement window

You're on a roll Bud! I bet the weight and feel of that silver felt good in your hands. I also enjoy fondling my finds. LOL
