Epoxy tube ... ever seen?

This seems to be a lead cased epoxy tube and from my quick research may be from the 40's. The word on the cap is "DEVOE" and the stamped letters around the collar are "Devoe & Raynolds" Anyone ever seen one before or have any thoughts?

Its the stuff (Paint) that artists use and put on with a knife to make and oil painting, may contain lead!
