Found these two Esso printing blocks today. dont know much about them looks like they are from maybe the 1950's. If anyone has any ideas it would be nice to here. Thanks for looking. I flipped the images to make them easier to read. IMG_20121107_191315.webpIMG_20121107_191344.webp

Awesome finds Neal!!!! Not everyone can say they have found those! AT Pro Rocks!!!!

Not sure this is a printing block. It looks like a plate you would make to print with a letterpress. But if you were to actually use this, your print would be backwards (a printing plate would be a negative). Maybe this was an example a print shop showed to potential clients or maybe it's an example of some type of advertising sign. Very cool find just the same!!

Very very cool finds! Agreed, I think if printing block it would be in reverse, but definitely something related. Those will make very nice display pieces for you.

Guys, he wrote in the original post:

It seems as though they were meant to be cut by the local printer, as on the bottom you can see the words "Dealer's Name and Address"

I found an old printing block once from the 1800's for an old butcher shop--I consider it among one of my most interesting finds. These are obviously as old as that, but still some great finds! Congrats!

He reversed the images so you could read them! They are backwards.

I'd say just from the reverse look from what it would look I printed, I would say early 60's and before.. just by the art deco look.
