I picked up a couple of etchings by the same artist at the local thrift today. The etchings are of a couple a well known paintings by Jean-Francois Millet (The Gleaners and The Angelus):

Can anyone decipher the artist’s name who did the etchings? The first initial definitely looks like an E but I have no guess on the last name.

There is an embossed stamp on each (over the signature on one and slightly below it on the other) that reads atelier j.f.millet *barbizon*

I've been looking for over an hour. Can't find any matches to that signature. I think they may fairly valuable though.

Possibly Eugène Béjot, I'm not positive though, his signature varies greatly.

Thanks for the suggestion GibH!

Very nice finds! :icon_thumleft:

GibH may have it, I've looked at the signature and also looked around...nothing definitive.

I'm sure someone on the forum will have the answer real soon! :headbang:

I looked at enough signatures to conclude it is Bejot. I don't think I've ever seen so many different signatures from one person. He usually signed Eug. Bejot, but also Eu Bejot, E Bejot, and even just EB. Sometimes it was printed, other times it was cursive. The only letter I haven't seen the same in other signatures is the "j".
