I see you have gotten zero response for at least a couple days.
While I use a different machine perhaps this will help... All the ones I have found read a solid midtone a bit higher than you would expect a nickel to read but lower than a penny.
They have a nice solid sound.
You can get a good idea by taking a fishing sinker of similar size and testing your machine with it
 

I have a friend in Tenn that says in some areas with hot soil that they can sound and register like trash without a good solid signal. I hunted with him once in these conditions, but was using a GPX. He scanned several of the targets that were good, repeatable targets and they wouldn't give a good signal on his Etrac. Just be aware that mid-highly mineralized or conductive soils can change the VDI readings quite a bit.

On .69 Minie balls, I get a 12/37, give or take.
