I am sick!! :-\ Yesterday I got about 45 minutes in and about 5 into the hunt I dug a beautiful coin from 1758! I was thrilled . I left and headed home but on the way I thought I might as well stop by the bakery and get some fresh bread . I stopped and took a good look at the coin. It was a really nice one in good shape that had a lion over a shield. Well I sat the coin down (I thought ) in the console and headed in . I jumped back in the car and when I got home I grabbed all my finds and headed into the house .I emptied my pockets out and no old coin. ??? I retraced my steps and no luck. I went back to the store with a flash light but no luck. I am gonna look in my car again tomarrow during lunch but I have been through it pretty well. I guess you win some ,you LOSE some. I have learned a good lession but it was a painfull one. Maybe It will turn up but I think it fell out of the car at the bakery . O well there is always tomarrow.

It happens.

And if you have HAD a lot of good finds, the chances increase that you will have lost at least one of them. This happens especially when you are young and/or just starting out. As things like this happen to you, you learn quick not to take ANY chances whatsoever.

Remember the Boyscout's motto, "...be prepared." When you think of this again (and you will), you will think of things that you might have done differently. From now on, take precautions. Perhaps for you it may be on thing, for someone else, another. An example is to develop a (good) habit of "securing" your finds once you have found them. Have a place to put them, and always put them there. You may even want to make it a place that no one can get into except you and/or someone else that you trust.

I've lost some great finds in the past (I would rather not say what all of them were, as I would rather not think of them much now). But I have kept many more of them because of the lessons learned from those experiences. Chaulk it up as a lesson learned and go on from there. If you have learned something that helps you out from now on, maybe you can come to think of it as the price you had to pay to keep all of the other great finds that you will have. Best wishes,

I got robbed once, and lost a lot of things.

I'd puke, I don't handle things like that very well. I'd have to call in sick, and I ain't joking, I'd be out there running around like a crazy person (like? crazy ha ha or crazy like Ramapirate) looking for it. I really hope you find it. Please keep us posted!!! I live vicariously through ya'll on the good finds like that one, so I'm with you on this!

Find it,
Ramapirate

You know what..........it went down the dash board of your car! I would bet the house on it.

Just ask Timmy ( from NY ) what happened to the piece off his
Minelab!! lolol

Good Luck finding your coin! The Seeker

Birdman I certainly hope you find your coin.

As far as your original questoin. No so far I have been lucky enough to not loose any of my MD finds so far. But I am sure it is coming. IT seems to be inevitable to lose one one day.

My 2nd actual hunt with another detector, and older gentleman that lives near me that rarely gets out. He finds 3 silver roosies. We get to his truck which is parked beside a large playground field, many peps walk their animals here. He tells me next day his "nail apron" atleast that is what I called it when I was doing Carpentry work had developed a hole and he remembers feeling the coins at the truck before when we got out of the field. We talked for a while there. Needless to say it was not in his truck or house. After returning we did not find it.

I hope in your case you are able to find the coin. I put all my keeper finds in a ziplock that I keep in a pocket seperate from my truck keys pocket. I know one day I will miss the Ziplock or perhaps even lose the ziplock.

Good luck my fingers are crossed that you find it.

Couple weeks ago I dug what i thought was a 1922 penny. got home an couldnt find it. after consulting PCGS I was sick. when I talked to the guy I was hunting with he assured me it was a 23, which i did have. Reguardless i still wigged out.
I hope you come accross it. Most cashiers could care less what money comes through their hands. I couldnt be a cashier/teller. I'd take too long looking at every coin.
HH & good luck
