This is what I took to the yard today:

620 lbs of extruded aluminum @.65/lbs
180 lbs of unstripped copper wire @$1.10/lbs
25 lbs of striped copper @$2.50/lbs

10 pounds of the unstripped copper wire was in the form of short misc pieces that I just throw in a bucket.

So when people ask if the little wires are worth it I say yes, that $11.00 paid for 1/2 the gas to cash in the scrap.

Happy hunting!!!!

Did you have to separate out the different insulated wires? I called the place last week I take my stuff to and they said they pay anywhere from 10 cents a pound to $1 a pound. I may have to look around for another place to take my stuff to.

No, they just threw it into a bin and weighed it.

it depends on the copper recovery of the wires

Christmas lights are the lowest @ .10 per lb

#2 insulated are multi copper stranded wires, tv/computer cords @ .40-.70 per pound depending on weight

#1 insulated is the single thick copper wire with very little covering @ $1.00 per pound
