Hi.I have an older(yellow headphones)excalibur 1000.I would like to get a new battery for it.Does the battery for the excal 2 work with my older excal?Would i be able to buy the alkiline battery pod for my older excal? Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi Scott

I have one too and bought an Alkaline battery pack for mine too from Kellyco when I got my detector. It works fine but for the difference in cost around $20.00, I'd get another rechargable packm if you have readily available charging capabilities

The battery packs for the excal 2 work for the older excals. I purchased an excal 2 battery pack for my excal 800 a year ago it works perfectly! The newer ones are NiMH instead of NiCad. I can't comment about alkaline pods because I don't own one.

You want a good battery at a good price for your excalibur.go to www.onlybatterypacks.com

They also have a charger that is superior to the stock one supplied by Minelab. Be careful if you replace your own batteries into the old pod: if you mess it up and it leaks you can destroy the whole unit (according to a Minelab tech I talked to). I chose to buy the whole new battery/pod because I didn't trust my skills, although many have done it successfully.

Yes that battery charger that onlybatterys has makes the one minelab has seem like junk..........

I have replaced both of my batteries with the ones from onlybatterypack.com. Changing it out is a piece of cake, just be sure your careful with the O-ring and put some silicone grease on it when you put it back on.....Have not had a single leak.

Now if your going to dive with it I would recommend you get a new battery pod, but if your wading with it I would just buy the battery and replace it...
