EXCAL 1000 knobs falling off?

Used my new excal 1000 yesterday for the second time. On my first dive all but one of the yellow caps on the knobs came off. Has anyone else had this happen?

what color are the headsets?

I have two Excals with the blue headsets, and never had one come off. I would go to radio shack and get a new set of knobs, one of excals were replaced with bigger knobs before I bought it and it is easer to turn when they are wet and your fingers are wet.

These knobs coming off used to happen to the older first run Excals, but the newer ones don't have this problem. The knobs you get from Radio Shack should be knurled audio knobs of 6 mm. size. Be sure to get the flat stainless steel set screws as the brass ones can set in saltwater and be hard to remove if you ever need to send it in for adjustment or repair.

I've never lost a knob on either of my Excals, but it can happen.

I have the yellow head set. I guess a better word to use would be the end cap. The yellow end cap on the knobs is what came off. Know you can not tell what your settings are.

Now I understand what you mean. It wasn't the knob but the cap on top of the knob. a friend of mine did have that happen.

He fixed his by turning the knob counter clockwise to the off position or as far as it would turn to the left and then marking that position on the knob with a tiny dab of water proof white paint.

You can replace the knob by calling Minelab and explaing what happen, I bet they would send you a new knob or the cap for free, or go to radio shack and get one there. I prefer the ones that were replaced on one of my units, knobs being a little larger they are easier to adjust when wet in the surf.
