How much voltage does the Excal require to operate? When I use the alkaline pod on my excal, it runs but not very smoothly, it falses alot and the threshold changes constantly. I checked the batteries and they range from 1.48v to 1.49+v with an average of 1.49. When checked together the voltage is 11.93v, is this enough? With the nimh's it came with it operates smoothly. Thanks, HH

There is quite a difference in where the threshold sound starts working in relationship to battery voltage with the AA-pack vs. NiMH pack, with my machine. When running the AA pack, the threshold changes at a obviously progressive rate and needs turned down quite often as the voltage decreases, regardless of battery brand. If I remember correctly, my rechargeable pack measured like 13.95 volts at full charge.

Yea, mine will read 14v when just off the charger and drop to around 13.6 the following day but will stay there for a while. The excal will operate smoothly for several outings, just noticed that with the alkalines the threshold changes constantly and I have to keep lowering it. With the alkalines you can hear the threshold about 1/4 turn of the knob while with the rechargables I have to turn the knob about 3/4 of the way before I hear anything. Guess this is normal. HH
