Does the Excalibur 2 have a constant buzzing noise (threshold)? Do pi machines have this? Watching videos and came across a Excalibur video where there is constant buzzing noise while hunting? Seems like that would get annoying.
Also I see in video where guy digs everything because he says it could be gold. If this is the case why not just use a PI machine?

That is the threshold... this is adjustable.
Threshold should be set to b a slight "buzz"... if too loud for you then trim back on it...
But...The more you trim back though... the more you will loose.

On some detectors this is labeled "tuning"... which is exactly what it is.

You can turn down the threshold to where it's just in the silent mode. You won't miss much that way as long as you keep the volume knob all the way up. I would rather hunt with the threshold tone so I can hear any slight variance in the tone that I might not hear in silent search. As for BBS vs. PI.........you can eliminate most iron with the Excalibur BBs system. You can't with the PI machine. Hunt in Pin Point (all metal) for max depth, and then after you get a target tone, you switch over to discrimination. No change in the threshold means the target is deeper than the discriminator can detect and you need to dig down until you can get a signal or recover the target. A null in the threshold means it's iron and you can move on to the next target. Any other repeatable tone and you have a target worth digging.

Thx for help

Problem with turning threshold to loud is it will mask faint deep targets and turning it to low will also cause you to miss targets too. When in desc mode i set threshold to sound like a tiny mosquito in my ear, when hunting in all metal I turn it till if I turn it any lower I lose all threshold, it allows me to hear real deep targets that just bump the threshold. I have done tests in test garden and I can hit 18 inch target using 10 inch coil in all metal mode on several excals..... It is just a bump in threshold .
