I've made my chest mount very easy with a drill, 1/4" drill bit and a piece of alum tube 1" od. Drrill holes to match holes on the ears and bolt it on the tube. Add two holes at the top of the tube for neck strap and your all set.

You can add the word "chest mount" to the forums Search feature for more pics.

This might help....

I purchased a 2'' web belt and mounted my excal on the right side, Go to a hardware store and purchase three screws that will be long enough and six washers and three wing nuts, Line up your excal and punch or drill the center hole in the web belt, And then you will be able to line up the outside screws,

The unit will always be mounted on the web belt and all you have to do is take the middle wing nut off and remove the screw to change out the battery,

I have my water pouch on the web belt while im detecting and this has been working out really great,

Chest mounting or waist mounting is how you make it work the best for your needs, But myself i would rather have the weight on my waist insted of my chest.
