Hello I would like to know better about excelerator 18 for explorer. I know its big and heavy, but how about performance? its sensitive to bumps? how its behaves on beaches? thank you Stasys

Have no experience with the explorer but have plenty with using an 18" coil.
The quick and dirty of it is; if you just have to spend your money and do it
for a 18" coil you better make it a DD and not a mono. It is VERY hard to
pin point with a mono that size unless you turn it up on edge and go across
the target two way's, 90 degs. from each other and on some machines that
can turn into be a pain in the a-- due to the shape of them. The DD will pin
point like a smaller coil and give almost as much depth with out having to
turn it on edge. And now for the big one ( "drum roll please" ) you can leave
your sand scoop at home and drag out your #2 shovel cause your going to
need that sucker to dig those targets that your going to find that are three
feet down! Oh, and did I tell you how heavy a 18"er gets while you try to
swing it with one arm? OK what you going to do with that shovel ? It can be
done and has been done but it sure ain't fun! Me; I try to think outside the
box when I can!

Thanks XT your wheels is impressive!!!! i still not reached this level! :icon_thumleft: i really dont know what to do with this steering wheel and where to drive with it? possibly beach? all idea started when some local guy proposed to swap it to small minelab coil which i never use and have two.I wanted to know if its stable against bums and what for this wheel except trailer.
i use my explorer in the bag so at least I have some place to weight or at least I think so :icon_scratch:
thank you Stasys

:hello:
Hi Stassys,

In a nutshell friend,

FANTASTIC

I highly recommend this coil IF you are trying to locate an area in a large field. (NOT BEACHES)
I use mine exclusively with very good success. When I am hunting a new field I can quickly locate the sweet spot. From there I switch coils back to my stock Pro coil and slow down. I use this coil more than the Sun - ray 5.5 I purchased a year ago. I have used the small coil 5 times since time of purchase.
I have save a huge amount of time using this coil. Yes, the weight is an issue but if your shorten up the shaft, it makes swinging much easier. I purchased mine from a friend who bought a "lot" (4) of them in auction. They were used to sweep for mines in Iraq. When I purchased this old Ford steering wheel, I thought, "Seriously?" and snickered.
Just for fun I tried it in a RW Skirmish site I had hunted to death. Right away I was getting the good tones I had missed with the 10.5 stock pro coil. Its a weapon in my arsenal now, and I highly suggest buying this BEFORE a small coil. As a matter of fact, I suggest forgetting purchasing the small coil altogether.
This is just my personal opinion.
