Grabbed this on a quick hunt this morning. The back says silvered surface warranted. I found a few examples but none with three holes. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks

The button shank broke & they did a running repair by drilling 3 holes.

Thanks. I couldn't see any sign of a shank so they did I good job covering it.

look harder & take a picture of the reverse?

NY State Militia Button. Would have to see back for marks to give you a date range. Probably 1820-30. Hogge

Tices....NY100A18 or NY100A35. British made alot of these in Silver finishes before 1830.:icon_thumright:

That is very neat! Modified and continued to use. Unfortunately for the person.... the last drop was your save!

agreed, although holed, its a much better piece of history with a story.

My fault right after I posted I notice the holes were drilled and there is just a little bit of solder in the middle. I was trying to figure out what it said rather than giving the whole button a good look. The back is pretty toasted and the picture is weak but here it is. Thanks

I have dug that same button with the same backmark. They are fairly common buttons, but I think they are one of my favorite one piece military buttons. Your's is really unique in that they tried to salvage it after the shank broke. Neat find!
