Explorer SE still getting sound from speaker when headphones plugged in.

mine doesnt do that. i would contact minelab.

plugging in a headset should cut out the sound to the speaker ---we have a malfunction houston---
 

Not normal, just call Minelab and they will fix the problem!! Good Luck!
 

Sounds like a bad headphone jack in your machine. When you push the headphone plug into to jack, it should open a set of contacts that would normally open or disables the the unit's speaker.

Sorry but it looks like the SE needs a vacation to Minelab in Nevada.
 

Have you pushed it in all the way? Headphone jacks are kinda low tech and not much changed in 50 years. There should be no "half-measures" if the plug is fully inserted.

Got kids? Check for a crayon stub or other foreign object in the hole.
